• Primary access to the HD video conferencing carts at your school. Other school projects requiring this equipment will need to be planned around your scheduled use.

• A role regarding the measurement and accountability methods for D2D. Your ideas and input are needed in every facet of the project.

• A paid fellowship with a practicing scientist. Our grant also measures the value of long term teaching and learning relationships between teachers and subject experts from outside K-12.

Your paid fellowship allows you to release the creative genius inside and create an engaging project for your students that merges and aligns the work going on in the lab with the curriculum standards for your subject area. This relationship is also a fascinating way to bring increased relevance into your teachings as scientists demonstrate how calculus is aiding in the search for new planets or how algebra is used to help increase crop yields and so on.

• An iPad for you, your partner scientist, and every student in your D2D enhanced class. All that creativity demands a state-of-the-art conduit! So, you will conduct you D2D classes in a one-to-one computing environment that fully leverages the latest classroom technologies as well as the new wireless networks recently installed in your school.

• A software budget for those very cool iPad apps. From digital textbooks to
telescope simulators – there’s an app for that! While your iPads will of course have basic productivity software pre-installed, the rest is up to you and the
needs of the projects you create. You will be able to alter your iPad software as your projects evolve over time.• Access to the Teaching & Learning Portal. This social and collaborative network is being custom designed to support you and your fellow teachers as you learn to wield your new tools. You will have input into the feature set and the design as well as access to tons of resource files for video, audio, animation that can be used by you and your students to create rich media projects.

• Custom professional development sessions. These state of the art sessions will be brought to you by Apple! The iPads are simple to use and Apple professional learning is the best around. The project runs for three years. Just think how engaging and relevant your classroom sessions and your technology skill set will be three years from today if you engage in a D2D collaboration.
